Pacific Marine Research has been educating and training youth for over 30 years. We have a proven history of providing a quality hands-on marine science experience. We are proud to have served over 125,000 students since our inception in 1984. Our existence can be attributed to two things: support of people like you who donate time and money to our organization and the passion of our board members and staff. Combined, these two factors have made Pacific Marine Research into one of the most respected marine science youth organizations in the region.
For 30 years Argosy Cruises helped support PMR’s mission by chartering the Goodtime II to PMR at a special rate. Because of other commercial commitments starting in 2016, they no longer have a vessel available for us to charter. Lake Union Charters-Emerald City has agreed to help us continue our mission by allowing us to charter The Spirit of 76 at a special rate.
Even with the generous charter rate the Spirit of 76 provides, PMR has an ongoing significant increase in operating expenses. The Spirit of 76 home port is on Lake Union. Costs for deadheading to saltwater, marina fees, and other inflation increases in operating costs means that our revenue from trips no longer covers our operating expenses.
Low income students and schools, particularly Title I schools, do not often have the resources to attend our program, even with reduced fees. Our goal is to provide scholarships to any student or any classroom that needs it. The Puget Sound belongs to all of us and we are committed to ensuring that all students have access to learn about it and respect it.
YourDONATION will provide scholarships to low income students, classes and schools.
Simply, yourDONATION will make sureas many students as possible can attend our Marine Science Afloat™ program. Your investment in us is an investment in our youth, the future stewards of Puget Sound.
